I’ve decided to put my free time to good use and have volunteered with the Asian Film Archive! I’ll be involved in cleaning out all the dust, mould and whatever surprises left on the old old reels (some nasty examples are in the video).
Only some of you will know this, I have a secret love for doing really mundane brain-dead stuff – like stamping addresses on envelopes, keying in databases etc – so this volunteer work will really give me a chance (at least once every week) to do that!
Before I begin though, I’ll have to go through a basic training course. If you’re interested in volunteering too, please write to Ethan from the Archive at [ethan at asianfilmarchive dot org]. We may just end up in the same training class!
For those with lesser time on your hands, you can do your part by sending your films or recommending films for preservation to the Archive and let the good peeps there do the rest for you.
